Joan Halifax Roshi

Joan Halifax Roshi ist eine buddhistische Lehrerin, Anthropologin, Autorin und Sozialaktivistin. Sie arbeitet seit 1970 mit sterbenden Menschen Sie ist Hauptlehrerin des Upaya Zen Zentrums in New Mexico, USA und Mitbegruenderin des Zen Peacemaker Ordens. Sie gruendete Projekte wie Ojai, Being with Dying, das Upaya Prison Projekt u.a. und ist Autorin einer Anzahl von Buechern.

English: Roshi Joan Halifax, Ph.D., is a Buddhist teacher, anthropologist and author. She is the founder of the Project on beijng with Dying, the Ojai Foundation, and the Upaja YenCenter in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she currently resides. She has practiced Buddhism since the 1960’sand was ordained in 1976 by Zen Master Seung Sahn. In 1990, she received the Lamp Transmission from Thich Nhat Hanh and in 1995, she was given Inka by Bernie Glassman Roshi.
